Tuberculosis:

MKUTA emphasizes a comprehensive approach beyond mere project implementation, ensuring effective delivery of TB and HIV services to communities. This is achieved through various programs executed in collaboration with partners and funders. These programs include:

  • Demonstrating MKUTA’s proficiency in designing, implementing, and evaluating TB services.
  • Community sensitization initiatives on TB, HIV, and pandemic awareness through outreach and facility-based health talks, aiming to encourage timely service utilization.
  • Engaging communities through training TB club members and affected individuals to identify and educate traditional healers and drug store owners, targeting high-risk clients for TB and HIV.
  • Conducting contact tracing and follow-up for TB cases by supporting members in tracking contacts, receiving details from health facilities, and screening household members.
  • Providing treatment support to TB and HIV patients, including medication supervision, ensuring adherence, and empowering patients and families with educational booklets.
  • Facilitating referrals and linkages for program beneficiaries to services such as gender-based violence (GBV) support, HIV testing services (HTS), family planning (FP), methadone treatment, and legal assistance.
  • Strengthening community systems through activities such as community-led monitoring, research, advocacy, capacity building, leadership development, and coordination at the sub-national level.
