Following the completion of TB treatment, a significant proportion of patients develop Post-TB Lung Disability (PTLD), now recognized as Programmatic Management of TB Associated Disability (PMTAD). MKUTA, as a community-based organization, continues to support patients post-treatment, particularly those experiencing chronic respiratory symptoms and complications due to PTLD. As part of a consortium, MKUTA has played a pivotal role in establishing a community pulmonary rehabilitation centre in Mirerani, Simanjiro District, Manyara Region, Tanzania. This initiative, facilitated by trained community health volunteers (CHVs), initially in a rural setting, has shown promising outcomes, leading to its expansion to Temeke Municipality, Dar es Salaam, an urban area. Presently, MKUTA operates five pulmonary rehabilitation sites across seven healthcare facilities.
