In 2012 to date, MKUTA and APOPO at Sokoine University entered into a formal collaboration agreement focusing on the implementation of second line tuberculosis screening by APOPO´s tuberculosis detection rats technology for additional tuberculosis case detection. In this project MKUTA is responsible to form a robust tracking system that ensures TB patients start and adhere to treatment. In one year, MKUTA tracked 400 additional TB cases and put them on treatment.
