About Mkuta
MKUTA, a non-governmental organization based in Tanzania is dedicated to combating the spread of TB and HIV by mitigating their impact on affected communities. Through various initiatives, MKUTA members offer crucial community TB and HIV care services, including patient supervision, tracing and following up on lost cases, community sensitization, health education, and promoting HIV testing and TB screening services. In a country where TB/HIV continue to have a significant impact, MKUTA stands as a beacon of hope, tirelessly working to alleviate the burden on affected individuals and communities.
Our strategic approach emphasizes community engagement, collaboration, and empowerment, recognizing the importance of addressing not only the diseases themselves but also the social, economic, and psychological factors that contribute to their persistence. Our goal is to increase community participation in TB and HIV control efforts, ultimately reducing the burden of these diseases in the communities we serve. With a well-established constitution in place, MKUTA has mobilized over 5,600 registered community health workers (CHWs) across 26 regions and 115 district councils in mainland Tanzania. Having operated for 13 years, MKUTA has evolved into a respected community-based expert organization, dedicated to building and empowering communities to actively participate in TB and HIV, as well as pandemic response efforts
